Nominated for the UE Teaching Award 2026
Eine wunderbare und völlig unerwartete Nachricht – ich bin für den UE Teaching Award 2026 nominiert und fühle mich sehr geehrt! … Gleichzeitig bin ich traurig, sehr traurig, denn ich habe die Nachricht zu spät gelesen, um die erforderlichen Unterlagen rechtzeitig einzureichen. In all meinen Jahren als Jurymitglied habe ich noch nie eine Situation erlebt, in der die Nominierten selbst Unterlagen einreichen müssen. Jetzt ist es mir passiert!
Da ich weiterhin mit großer Freude und absolut authentischem Engagement arbeiten werde, bekomme ich vielleicht nochmals eine Chance auf diese wunderbare Auszeichnung. Wer weiß ... ?
Wonderful and completely unexpected news! I am nominated for the UE Teaching Award 2026 and I feel very honored! ... at the same time, I'm sad, very sad, because I read the news too late to submit the required documents in time. In all my years of jury work, I've never experienced a situation where nominees themselves have to submit materials. Now it has happend to me!
Well then, since I'll continue to work with great joy and genuine dedication, I might get another chance at the wonderful award?

Meine Studierenden aus der "thePICTURBOOKCLASS" der UE Germany und ich sagen: Vielen Dank liebe Sigrun Putjenter, für den spannenden Einblick in ihre Arbeit im Bereich der Kinder- und Jugendbuchabteilung der Staatsbibliothek in Berlin. Wir durften u.a. Originalausgaben von Walter Crane, Beatrix Potter Randolph Caldecott und anderen Größen bestaunen. Ihre Idee uns ihr wunderbares Lieblingsbuch von Meggendorf zu zeigen, hat uns alle begeistert und bleibt sicher unvergessen.
My students from the “thePICTURBOOKCLASS” at UE Germany and I would like to say: Thank you very much, Sigrun Putjenter, for the fascinating insight into your work in the Children’s and Young Adult Books Department at the Berlin State Library. Among other things, we had the chance to look at original editions by Walter Crane, Beatrix Potter, Randolph Caldecott and other groundbreaking illustrators of that time. Your idea to show us Meggendorf’s wonderful book thrilled us all and will surely remain unforgettable.

Supergute News für die Studierenden der Faculty of Arts and Design der UE Germany in Berlin –
ab März 2025 wird es für das 4. Semester Illustration eine the PICTUREBOOKCLASS Klasse geben.
Ich kann es kaum erwarten mit euch an euren Bilderbuchprojekten zu arbeiten! Bilderbücher sind Bücher mit überwiegend Bildern, was nicht bedeutet, dass sie "nur" an Kinder gerichtet sind. Also auf geht's in die Welt der Storyboards, der Charakterentwicklung und des Storytellings.
Seid willkommen und freut euch schon jetzt vorab – wir werden eine extrem gute und kreative Zeit miteinander haben. Ganz sicher!

starting in March 2025, there will be a PICTUREBOOKCLASS for the 4th semester in Illustration.
I can't wait to work with you on your picture book projects! Picture books are books, that mainly contain pictures, which doesn't mean that they are “only” aimed at children. So let's dive into the world of storyboards, character development, and storytelling.
Welcome, and get excited – we're going to have an extremely good and creative time together.

Bilderbuchfest 2025
Das Berliner Bilderbuchfest ist jedes Jahr das größte Ereignis rund um das Bilderbuch in Berlin!
Ausgerichtet von der BUCHBOX Berlin könnt ihr ab morgens um 10.00 an über 30 Ständen viele schöne Bilderbücher entdecken und natürlich auch kaufen. Zudem gibt es ein Bühnenprogramm auf zwei Bühnen, leckeres Essen, ein Treffen mit dem Grüffelo uvm.
Um 15.00 seid ihr herzlich zu meiner Lesung mit kleinem workshop eingeladen!

A guide through the jungle of new publications
The Poetry Recommendations initiative was launched thirteen years ago to make the diversity of voices in poetry more visible - now including children's poetry. A group of experts select the volumes they consider particularly worthy of recommendation - all new publications from the spring of the previous year to March of the current year.
The initiators and cooperation partners of the initiative are: Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung, Stiftung Lyrik Kabinett, Haus für Poesie, Internationale Jugendbibliothek, Deutscher Bibliotheksverband, Deutscher Literaturfonds.
